Eat for the Environment -- Help Support MHLC doing something you already do -- Eating!

MHLC is continuing this fund and friend raising program in 2012. Bring your friends one Tuesday evening
a month to enjoy a good meal and help support MHLC. A percentage (usually between 15% and 25%) of the tab
for customers is donated to MHLC.

Join Laura Heady of the Hudson River Estuary Program for a free lecture on the importance of forest and wetlands in the Hudson Valley, and the "Amphibian Migrations and Road Crossing" volunteer project. Learn how you can get involved by witnessing spring migrations of salamanders, frogs, and toads, and how you can help amphibians survive their overland travel, and conserve important habitats in your community. Annual Awards Dinner Scheduled Tuesday April 3, 2012
We are delighted to announce that Charles Gehring of the New Netherlands Research Center will be our guest speaker at our Annual Awards Dinner. We hope you will be able to join us as we celebrate our 20th Annivesary. The dinner will be held at The Stockade Inn in Schenectady. More information will be available in March.

April 14 (Sat) ALBANY COUNTY RAIL TRAIL: All aboard! Keep your New Year’s resolution by hiking this historic and unique trail, purchased in 2009 from the Canadian Pacific Railway. The recently opened first section of trail is 1.9 miles and stretches from the Slingerlands Fireman’s Park to the Bethlehem Veterans Park in Delmar. We will meet at Slingerlands Community Church, 1499 New Scotland Ave. at 10 am to car pool, and share ice cream afterwards.
April 19 (Thurs) SCHOHARIE CREEK PRESERVE: This beautiful 198-acre preserve is located in ontgomery County on the banks of the Schoharie Creek. There are a series of lovely waterfalls and an unusual rock formation. We will meet at Slingerlands Community Church, 1499 New Scotland Ave. at 10 am to car pool.
April 26 (Thurs) THE KELEHER PRESERVE: Our largest preserve (287 acres) is a work in progress. Located outside of Clarksville, this property is highly visible from many locations in Delmar. Join us to see what it looks like up close. We will meet at Slingerlands Community Church, 1499 New Scotland Ave. at 10 am to car pool.
May 4 (Fri) VAN DYCK SPINNEY PRESERVE: This is soon to be our newest property. Only minutes from Bethlehem High School this property rambles along the Philipin Kill. Come and explore it with us. We will meet 10 am at the Elm Avenue Park and Ride in Delmar.
May 11 (Fri) HELDEBERG WORKSHOP: This amazing 200-acre gem is located at the foot of the Helderberg Escarpment in the Town of New Scotland. Our leader for the day will be Paul Doyle who is a member of the Heldeberg Workshop’s board of directors. He will guide us through amazingly varied habitats in “An Adventure in Learning.” We will meet at 10 am at Slingerlands Community Church, 1499 New Scotland Ave. to car pool.
GENERAL INFORMATION: We recommended that hikers bring waterproof boots and lunch. These hikes are coordinated by Dodie Seagle, MHLC board member.
