The
property on Vly Creek, a tributary of the Mohawk River, is a beautiful
11.5 acre glen near the intersection of Vly Road and the Troy-Schenectady
Road. The property was a gift of an informal neighborhood association
lead by Don and Lois Porter, and was given through The Nature Conservancy
to the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy in 2000. The Glen contains a large
variety of plants. For example, on one outing the following ferns were
identified: Christmas, Cinnamon, Interrupted, Lady, New York, Royal, Sensitive,
and Wood.
Don and Lois Porter maintain a web site with maps and photos of Ashford Glen.
