NATIVE PLANTS and POLLINATOR HABITAT in YOUR HOME LANDSCAPE
As Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy works to protect habitat for stressed insect and bird populations in their preserves, we can each make an impact in our own yards.
We’ll meet at the home of a Bethlehem resident who has been working for several years to incorporate native plants and build overwintering sites to support ourstressed insect population. As we tour, we’ll discuss steps we can take to make our gardens supportive of wildlife while still enjoying a beautiful landscape.
Other subjects we will cover are invasive species removal, building soil health, incorporating native plants, minimizing lawn and providing safe habitat for insects to survive through the winter. We’ll also focus on design and maintenance techniques that will help make yourgardens attractive throughout the year.
Lead by Margaret Inderhees, Master Gardener and MHLC Board Member and Kate Brittenham, owner of Front Stoop Gardens in Troy, CoFounder of Home EarthAlliance and CoAuthor of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East.
As part of MHLC's registration process, we require that all event participants agree to our Event Release and Waiver of Liability. (Please note: This waiver also includes a photography release.)
