SESSION #1: How to Improve Your Habitat at Home

Friday, April 26, from 10 AM- 12 PM
Albany County Soil & Water Office, Voorheesville


Get to know your local agents! Representatives from NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service), Albany County Soil & Water Conservation District, Cornell Cooperative Extension, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Capital Region PRISM (Partnership for Invasive Species Management) will present programs that support private landowner habitat improvement projects.

SESSION #2: Techniques in Action

Friday, May 17, from 10 AM- 12 PM
Bender Melon Farm Preserve, Town of New Scotland


Visit Bender Melon Farm Preserve to learn about habitat improvement projects:

·      Learn about invasive species and why they are detrimental to your habitat
·      Tour our invasive species brush removal projectand learn about Integrated Pest Management and treatment techniques.
·      Visit our pollinator field and learn about on-site challenges and how to get a successful project despite what Mother Nature throws at you.

SESSION #3: All About Birds

Friday, June 7, from 10 AM- 12 PM
Bender Melon Farm Preserve, Town of New Scotland


Meet Hudson Mohawk Bird Club! Local experts will discuss New York’s most-needed bird habitat and techniques for grassland bird management. MHLC worked with local partners to gather bird data before our project began; we’ll share monitoring tools used and how to measure success.

After this session, we invite you to join us for some birding at the preserve!
